Marine innovation with X2 extreme HMI

In the marine industry, the shift towards sustainable energy solutions is essential. Beijer Electronics' X2 extreme HMI has emerged as a key component in achieving this goal, offering a robust and reliable interface for advanced marine applications. This case study looks into how our technology played a crucial role in addressing the unique challenges faced by our end customer.

The challenge

The marine sector is under increasing pressure to reduce carbon emissions and adopt cleaner energy sources. Traditional diesel engines are not only environmentally harmful but also expensive to maintain and operate. The end customer sought a solution that could deliver clean energy, lower operational costs, and endure the harsh marine environment.

The solution

To tackle these challenges, MAC Automation, in collaboration with partners All American Marine, and Blu Fin Marine, developed an innovative hydrogen-powered boat. This vessel leverages a hydrogen fuel cell system to provide eco-friendly and efficient power. At the heart of this solution is our X2 extreme HMI, which offers a rugged and dependable interface for controlling and monitoring the hydrogen fuel cell system.

The X2 extreme HMI was selected for its resilience in extreme conditions, certifications, providing a durable and user-friendly interface for operators. Its high-resolution display and intuitive controls facilitate seamless monitoring and management, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

Why Beijer?

Beijer Electronics was chosen for this project due to our proven track record of delivering robust and reliable industrial solutions. The X2 extreme HMI, renowned for its rugged design and superior performance, was ideally suited for the demanding marine environment. Its ability to withstand harsh conditions, certifications, and integrate seamlessly with the hydrogen fuel cell system made it the perfect choice for this application.

Additionally, a Nexto Xpress BCS-XP340 compact controller was integrated into the system to enhance control capabilities. Despite not being a rugged product, the BCS-XP340 offers high-speed processing, extensive I/O options, and seamless connectivity, making it an excellent complement to the X2 extreme HMI.

By selecting Beijer Electronics and our X2 extreme HMI, along with the Nexto Xpress BCS-XP340, MAC Automation and their partners were able to provide a solution that not only enhanced operational efficiency but also improved safety and reduced environmental impact. This case underscores our commitment to delivering cutting-edge technologies that meet the rigorous demands of our customers in the marine industry.
